who you really are...
Personality: Damon is sarcastic and witty. Exeptionally flirtacious and quite the ladies' man. He often uses his compelling ability to make them not talk about vampire things and feeding they witness, or occasionally to pick them up. He can be brooding when it comes to Elena and not getting to her, since he is in love with her. That doesn't stop him from flirting with and taking home other women though, in fact her rejecting him tends to send him straight after finding a woman to spend the night with.

Dislikes: Stefan sometimes, Katherine nowadays, Revealing how he really feels
Strengths: Street smart, vampire abilities, resourceful/cunning, Wears a daylight ring so he can walk in the sun.

History:
Damon Salvatore was born on June 18, 1841 to Lillian and Giuseppe Salvatore. His younger brother Stefan was born after him. His mother died in 1858 when he was 17 years old seemingly from consumption. He was born and raised in Mystic Falls. When he was 24 years old, a woman by the name of Katherine came to town and completely turned things around for the brothers. She was a vampire and she fell in love with Stefan, but Damon fell in love with her. She toyed with both of the brothers, compelling Stefan to drink her blood and to bed him, while Damon willingly drank her blood and pursued her. He wanted to give up his human life and spend eternity with Katherine, begging Stefan to keep the secret from their father. Stefan inadvertently revealed that Katherine was a vampire and Katherine was taken away.
Damon was angry with Stefan but Stefan agreed to help him rescue Katherine. The rescue attempt did not go well, their father catching them and shooting both of them, ashamed at their sympathizing and loving a vampire and both died with Katherine's blood in their systems. Damon awoke first and witnessed the church burning where Katherine was supposed to have been imprisoned. He felt that he wanted to die then, his reason for living gone and said he would not transition into a vampire. Stefan forced him to want to feed and he completed the transiton, promising Stefan an eternity of misery because Katherine had turned him as well. He recieved a daylight ring from Emily Bennett, who had been asked to do so by Katherine and Emily told Damon that she had spared the vampires in the church. 145 years later, he returned to Mystic Falls planning to free Katherine. As it turned out though, Katherine had never been in the church and Damon now hates her. During his return in Mystic Falls, despite his toying with and being pretty cruel to Elena Gilbert at times, he has come to love her. She is the one in his heart now, when he has one that is.
